Description

This deck was designed by Thirdway Industries for the cybersecurity company Flare.io. It features its own lore inspired by hackers, cybersecurity, and the hidden corners of the internet. In this world, Hearts and Diamonds represent threats, while Spades and Clubs stand for the defenses and solutions that keep them at bay.

The cards, explained:

Hearts – Social Engineering Threats

  • KoH – Phisher – Expert in deception. Creates fake login pages and emails to trick victims into handing over credentials.
  • QoH – Impersonator / Deepfake Scammer – Uses AI and deepfakes to mimic others and manipulate targets.
  • JoH – Dark Web Marketplace Vendor – Trades illicit goods and services on hidden online marketplaces.

Spades – Detection & Response

  • KoS – SOC Analyst – Monitors security alerts, investigates incidents, and responds to attacks in real time.
  • QoS – Threat Intelligence Analyst – Tracks adversaries, monitors dark web activity, and turns raw data into early warnings.
  • JoS – Bug Bounty Hunter – An independent explorer who finds and reports vulnerabilities for cash rewards.

Diamonds – Malware & Automation Threats

  • KoD – Malware Developer – Codes the tools of the underground: info stealers, ransomware, and remote access trojans.
  • QoD – Botnet Operator – Controls networks of compromised devices, used for spam, DDoS attacks, or malware distribution.
  • JoD – Ransomware Operator – Mastermind of digital extortion, running syndicates that steal data and demand payment.

Clubs – Detection & Response

  • KoC – CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) – The general. Balances risk, strategy, and operations across the company.
  • QoC – Security Researcher – Reverse-engineers malware, discovers vulnerabilities, and informs the public.
  • JoC – Cyber Law Enforcer – Tracks and arrests cybercriminals in cooperation with global agencies.

The Jokers – Onion & Telegram

  • The Onion – One of the most iconic symbols of the dark web is the onion — a reference to the Tor network, which enables anonymous browsing. A stylized Joker based on an onion represents the chaotic neutrality of the dark web itself: unpredictable, anonymous, and layered.
  • Telegram – A visual pun on Telegram, the messaging app central to modern cybercrime, disguised as a vintage telegram machine or ticker-tape device.
